Caesar Place is a short dead-end street running west from Boston Road in Pinehurst, just south of the Boston Road bridge over the Shawsheen River. It was laid out as Spring Street, one of the streets of Riverbank Acres, on the plan "Riverbank Acres, Billerica, Mass., June 1911," drawn by C. A. Thayer, engineer, and recorded on August 16, 1912 (Plan Book 30, Plan 19), which Warren H. Manning's list of 1912 credits to the A. Adelman Realty Company. On the plan Spring Street leaves "Main Street," as Boston Road was labeled, between Summer Street and Pineview Avenue, with lots on both sides. The developer named Spring, Summer and Autumn Streets for the seasons. The directory of 1931 lists "SPRING (Pinehurst) from Boston rd to Shawsheen river," beside the other Spring Street at South Billerica.
The town had two Spring Streets for most of the century, and the Street Renaming Committee, which worked from February 1988 to the last effective date of January 7, 1991 to do away with duplicate street names, removed both: the South Billerica street is now Springs Road, and this one became Caesar Place. The printed lists of changes do not include it, but the registry's property index carries the same documents under both names, among them a deed of 1997 for "8 Caesar Place & Spring St, lots 405 to 407 inc., Pl. Bk. 30-19," and the earliest entry under Caesar Place is from September 1991. Why the name Caesar was chosen has not been found.
No vote accepting Spring Street or Caesar Place as a public way has been found; neither name is in the town's list of accepted streets printed in 1956, and the street was not on the town map of 1831 or among the roads accepted in 2016.
